Ensure fair bypolls: Election Commission to UP officials amid voters’ identity row

The Election Commission of India on Wednesday asked authorities in Uttar Pradesh to ensure fair bypolls in the state after two groups resorted to throwing stones in Meerapur amid a row over checking of voters’ identity. The poll body has also ordered the suspension of police personnel for checking the identity of voters.
